on eastenders the other night (think it was tuesday), stacey and max were having a bit of a tiff and stacey said to him 'so i was just a shag was i?'.
any of you ppl think the use of the word 'shag' before the 9pm watershed may have caused the BBC to recieve some complaints?

i noticed that but thought i must have mis heard as i was pottering about whilst it was on and not watching properly. I dont think theres any need for it really and was a bit surprised, still, thats the way things are going these days, and now i sound very very fossil like lol

I agree, its a bit too graphic for such an early program. My daughter had to give up watching EE as her wee girl started to pick up on words like that, asking what they meant. It was not a word she heard in her everyday life and she wants to know what they mean.

It seems to be common place now. We were quite shocked to hear it a few times in the new family comedy with Nicholas Lyndhurst. I guess it doesn't bother some people.

Its just a word, however, showing Tracy Barlow lamping Charlie and then him dying, well I felt that was a bit graphic for the little innocents watching and yet no-one seems to have complained about that.

Not that I am complaining, it was the best thing on TV that week.

Just watched the re-run of it and she defo said 'shag'. And that was at half 2 in the afternoon.
Whatever next the presenters of c beebies having it a way doggy style :):):)

I always thought it was a bird, a bit like a cormorant?

I've always thought of 'shag' as pretty low down the scale, and really reserved for post watershed.

shag is not a swear word.
merely mentioning something to do with sex is not vulgar.

we have shag pile carpets, shag tobacco etc - the wors itself is not offensive

kids should be in bed by that time on a school night. I blame the parents, when i was a child i was in bed for 6 - 7 pm and my little'un goes 7pm just after 5 minutes more on disney chanel.
