I usually glance through the question headings to see if there's anything which makes sense to me. There very rarely is!
The USA has produced a few good TV shows, such as 'Soap' (which nobody seems to remember but was wonderfully funny). As you suggest, however, most of their stuff is rubbish.
However, I'm often amused (or should that be 'amazed'?) by the number of questioners who assume that everyone watches the same TV as they do. It's not just here in 'Media' that it occurs. 'Shopping' is full of questions such as "Where can I get a dress like the one Julie was wearing last night?", without any reference to which programme or which channel it refers to!
You'll know that you're really old (like me) when you find yourself (like me) trawling through eBay to find videotapes (NB: not these new-fangled DVD-thingies) of early episodes of Last of the Summer Wine ;-)
Chris
PS: I like the way that you've carefully used 'program' when referring to American TV and 'programme' for British TV. It's good to meet a fellow pedant!
