On crimewatch just now it showed a girl's rape and then from the cctv it said he was wearing a watch on his right arm then the woman said it was unusual. why was it unusual?

I always thought left-handers wore watches on the right, but evidently not. Must be just a matter of preference, but having said that I haven't noticed many other people wear watches on the right. Sorry, not a good answer i know, just more of a comment I suppose.
it is socially accpted that MOST people wear it on ther left wrist.....
i guess its liek sayig he had a tatoo in his neck,,,,not everyone will have it, but it will narrow it down to a much smaller percentage.....
however from teh replaies so far it would seem taht most ab'ers wear there watches spazzy too....

It is simply because when all watches had a winder, the winder was positioned so the watch could be wound up by the right hand whilst worn on the left wrist - because the majority are right handed.
If such a wrist watch was worn on the right wrist, the winder would be on the 'wrong' side for winding.
