Why are adverts between programmes so LOUD? I thought there were a lot of complaints about this but nothing seems to have been done. Especially Sheila's Wheels after the ITV London News.

Who?
I agree, but to whom do you complain? Also the music & sound effects can be deafening while dialog's a whisper!
I suspect it's to wake those of us who have fallen asleep! lol.
The most used button on my remote control is the volume. It goes up during a program and then down when the ads come on. It's like they dilibratly crank it up just to make sure you pay attention to what they are advertizeing.
Well der! Of course they want to get your attention for the ads. Try this.....video the programme then fast fwd through the ads problem solved!!

Ask Barry Scott --- lmao
:)
Yes but they don't have to do that. It does nothing but make you want to turn over or hit the mute button. Have they not worked that out by now. Pester power might work with kids but not adults. and don't der me thank you. I was just pointing out an iritation.
i am the same as tigerlily The most used button on my remote control is the volume. It goes up during a program and then down
advertisements are programmed to automatically turn up the volume.

I switch over to BBC during adverts, does anyone actually BUY anything they see advertised on TV anyway? And LBC radio is worse .... the ads are just awful, although no louder than the programme, interestingly. Why is that ??
I never buy the advertisers products that get on my nerves, especially that stupid guy with scraggy long hair who shouts, '' BOGOF '' trying to sell us double glazing.
I could mention many more, but it would take up to much time.

I use the mute button during the ads and also tape programmes, then whizz through them which has the added advantage of watching for only 45 mins on an hour programme!!!
i saw somewhere that tv programmes and adverts are produced using different audio systems and as adverts want to keep costs to a minimum they wont use the same higher quality audio system which have a more muted tone - so adverts sound louder.

I think it's to get your attention, after you are relaxing watching TV, so you will buy the product. I have now written to Ofcom !
