Thompson Top Up TV

Just recently my Thompson Top up TV box has had the no signal symbol on the screen nearly every day, which means that anything I programmed to record doesn't happen. I have to switch it off & remove the plug from the socket for about 30 seconds & when I replace it the programme list is back on the screen, but next day it could be off again so I just can't rely on it. Has anyone else had the same problem ?

Check that your top up card is inserted properly and that aerial is properly connected. I have a Thompson Top Up Tv Box and had some initial problems which are now sorted, my card wasn't inserted properly but that has been sorted. I have a months free trial with Top Up but not sure whether or not to continue, I just want the system for recording. If you still have trouble ring the company or helpline and they should be able to fix your problem. Good Luck

You need to check the strength of the signal received by your tuners. As I'm no in front of the box right now I can't remember exactly the right menu names but you need to go to "set up" and then "help" (think it's menu number 2 and then 6)
At the bottom of your screen you should see an option to press red. Do so. Then your 2 tuners will show on the screen. Sometimes when the weather is rubbish the signal from Crystal palace can be weak.
You should aim for a signal on both bars for both tuners to be at least 6-7 for a decent reception.
If yours is lower than that then you need to upgrade your aerial.

I followed the instructions here:

and it worked fine (you do have to be patient as it takes about an hour to update)

Here's the basics:
(It allows you to access a hidden service menu)

You need to press:

MENU - Then press the following number at each stage
4.
6.
1.
3.
9.
7 and then scroll down to select line 17 "Force Next OAD".

The box will then take the OAD in about an hour or so providing your not busy recording several things.
