I am still in shock! I thought the Tudors was bad enough, but this! I know it is not recorded history, but Merlin, Arthur, Morgan Le Fey all the same age!

Im not one for nit picking but when uther was eating a strawberry it looked very cultivated and supermarket brought. Loved the dragon but then ive always had a thing for dragons. Would like to know where the castle was though, the titles rushed by so quick i just caught chateau blah de blah.

thought it was all special effects! It was done well enough provided you suspend all knowledge of the legend of King Arthur.
The whole thing looked a bit too clean and not very authentic and it's not one for sticking to the history books.

I quite enjoyed it in its own right though and will be interested to see how the series progresses.

The castle looked lovely.
We hated it - that's an hour saved for the next 12 Saturdays!
I reckon it's Beverley Hills 90210 set in Camelot, ie aimed at the young. My husband loves the Arthur story, and was highly offended. The acting seemed a bit ropey for the BBC too.
Ah, found this about filing locations so many it is special effects.

When the bbc were showing trailers i did think some serious computer giggery pokery had been done on mad king ludwigs castle or the castle from where eagles dare.
I will be following it as i do love that kind of thing, and merlin is kind of cute.

As I thought, the castle is special effects. It is entertaining, but as an Arthur aficionado, like hammersgirls's husband, I didn't like it. The BBC is rewriting our cultural heritage as well as our history. Arthur was born in Tintagel, not Camelot!
May the Force be with you ... Oh sorry, it was a dragon, not Obi Won Kenobi
I too love the Arthurian legend and was quite disgusted. However, Merlin didn't exist. He was called Myrddin, but Geoffrey of Monmouth thought it sounded too much like the French word for sh*t and so changed it! The choice of John Hurt for the dragon is excellent though.
Found it... Chateau de pierrefonds, wikipedia has pictures of it but im afraid i dont know how to link you to the site.
I switched it off after 10 minutes. I knew it was going to be bad as soon as I saw the sign on the castle wall pointing the way to the physicians room (or what ever it was).
I was really annoyed by this.
It does not even point out morgana and arthur are half brother and sister, and huge point in the legends. And as someone else said the closeness of ages was out, Morgana was at least 10 years older than Arthur and Merlin a man in his middle age when Arthur came along.
The costumes were wrong. Camelot was not built until arthurs reign, and he was not raised at uthers court rather fostered out for his own safety.
the only bit of the legend i heard (I loved the dragon and true to the legend that there was a fight between a red and white dragon at the foundation of camalot ) 'Arthur is the once and future king who shall reunite Albion'.
I will keep watching but suspend any belief in what im seeing as a portrayal of the legends. Just a ow which uses names and places but not any of the story.
I'm a bit surprised that people are being so picky, and any mention of history books is ridiculous. Arthur and Camelot do not appear in History Books, as it's not true! It's just a story!
So it does'nt matter who was what age, at that time. Coz there is no time! It's a story!

However, what was that song, That Torchwood Gwen sung? Was it just written for the programme or did it already exist? Haunting wasn't it.
