I was watching emmerdale with my grandchild last night when dike dingle kissed jasmine. Why does
abnormal behaviour such as this have to be shown when normal families are watching tv together at 7:00pm. It was hard explaing to a seven year old why 2 female's were kissing. It's just another case of the media drip feeding everyone into believing that lesbian and homosexual behaviour is natural.

But agree with your point that as it's a family show, these things could be hinted at, yet not actually shown so early in the evening.
Do you also think though that Rape and Murder, and seeing Dead bodies with lots of blood to be natural?
Only a few weeks back that this story line was shown.
What are your views on that then?

Wake up, it's the 21st Century. You can't say that it's wrong to show that kind of bahaviour on T.V so early.
You can't wrap your kids in a bubble, they need to learn about these things.
Daniela31 your right it is natural, it's the way of the world nowadays.
Don't mean to sound harsh but I had to state my views.

Actually, everyone is right. It is natural, and portrayed more on TV now early on in the evening than it was before.
What has happened to the 'watershed' of 9 o'clock?
If frodsham thinks his/her grandchild shouldn't see these things, then maybe they should ask the childs parents if it's ok for him to be allowed to see it?

If you are a regular viewer of Emmerdale, or any of the other soaps, then you should know the sort of content that is being shown these days.
It's up to each individual family as to wether or not let their children see it.
But does the childs parents watch this, or is it just when he is with his grandparents?

I agree that it's natural, but gays have become somewhat disproportionate in Soaps these days - it's almost as if they have to have characters from all walks of life in all soaps and they go over the top with it.
I worked at a primary school where a little girl aged 7 stopped holding hands with her best friend because the other kids were calling her gay, so I do think we have to be a little careful with how much we show. I found it very sad that something so natural as kiddies holding hands had been tainted.
So, although I don't think lesbianism is abnormal, I actually can see frodsham's point.
However, as others have said, rather that than violence.

LoftyLottie in response to your answer, yes it is very sad that children refrain from holding hands and just being children because of what is being said by other children.
You can't just blame tv tho, children hear and see things all the time. It's up to the parents to explain things to their own children like what their saysing to others is hurtful.
Soaps are meant to be just like real-life so they do have to show a wide range of diverse situations and a mixture of different people on the show.
If the same people were on there day after day, and the same things kept happening then everone would say how boring it was.

I don't disagree with you Sacha, but I still think that they don't have to go over the top on TV so that the minority groups actually are represented more than the majority. They are going way over the top!!
And I don't think a parent should have to explain gay behaviour to a very young child until the child is understanding of sex generally and has the ability to comprehend and reason. Seven is probably old enough but kids mature at different rates.
It seems to be rammed down their throats on tele these days - which isn't natural. They will end up thinking everyone is gay!
