There is no date yet. The BBC announced a few years back that they wanted to be fully HD for their programming in 2010, although I don't think that is likely. The first soaps to start filming in HD were Hollyoaks and Emmerdale, although with fairly new sets, and more location filming they found it a lot easier. Eastenders and Corrie are very traditional soaps with perminent outdoor sets and a few studios where they film interiors. As they have limited space (filmed in the centres of Manchester and London!) to build up and strike sets as needed, the build are very lightweight and wouldn't stand up to the scrutiny of HD filming which can offer up to 5x the picture quality of the current filming. The outdoor sets are just as bad, as they are really showing their age. Both Eastenders and Corrie are planning to move out of their current locations in order to create new HD proof sets, but that will take time so no definate dates have been set. The latest news was that Auntie is currently looking at moving production of Eastenders to Pinewood studios, where they would have the space for a large outdoor perminent set of Albert Square, and have plenty of film studio space, or the ability to build their own.
