but most on here are looking at poor family and dissing them whereas I didnt agree with how the rich family were brining there children up, the daughter with all them handbags and the boy with all designer clothes. I think there is a happy medium. Maybe seeing how some people cant afford things might make the rich family think. The children should be bought up knowing that they have to fend for themselves one day
red ... I suspect there was an element of "playing it up" for the TV cameras, to make sure thatthe "poor" family looked poor.

absolutely red - it was a bit sickening the girl showing off her designer handbags, not even knowing how to pronounce the names. And the lad with his golf clubs... and a wardrobe full of Ralph Lauren.

Out of all the kids, it was Brandon, and is Brandon, who I think will be the happiest in life ultimately. I hope so.
4get ...

Maybe they never will have to fend for themselves.

(If) you had kids, and a huge amount of money, would you make them "learn the value" of money.

I wouldn't.

Rightly or wrongly, I'd just say ...

Here you go, there's 5m each ... that should do you.

Cor blimey seagull - I wish you were my mother !!
yes I would because you never know what happens in life and how long you will have money, dont get me wrong I wouldnt dress tham in rags but whats the difference between having a top from tesco or one with a little tiny symbol on it for 10 times the amount. That little girl didnt even know what the bag was. If you gave them 5 million each and they didnt know the value of money they would spend it on all designer stuff thinking thats what lifes about and then have no money left for the imprtant things
and the place they lived was gorgeous but it was all surrounded by gates, they need to get out in the real world
salla ...

I agree, the little girl with her "Lewis Vinton" bag was hilarious ...

But, hey ... that's what girls do.

I've taken my friends' daughter shopping ...

(I'm the sensible, guiding godmother, LOL)

... and they just love having labels.

one thing it was really nice to see was that Brandon seemed so polite and had manners.

JJ i think that even if had lots of money I would like my kids to be able to fend for themselves financially. You never know when the family funds may dry up and what then?

4get ...

I agree about their house.

It was a housing estate.

A posh one, but still an estate.

That gated entry was ridiculous.

ps. Salla ... I don't actually have 10m to spare.

I was speaking hyper-pathetically.
I wish I'd watched the whole programme now.
that's pathetic JJ - cos you made me go all hyper....

5 mill ?
A mill?

F*** it - 5 will do at the moment - just enough for a Tesco Bag For Life.
I wanted their car to get broken into lol
ooh shaking I was shaking too after watching. I thought last week's was bad enough (enough to make me watch again lol) in that these people aren't really the poorest of the poor in this country.
Last night they said the guy spends all of wages (280) and benefits (120) per week on bills and rent.
Well I am in a similar situation in that I rent and I work but I don't live in a council house so my rent is 525 per month, things are always tight but I would never not find money for shoes. Oh and I don't smoke I guess. What sort of bills do they have I wonder?
And another thing, why can't she work?
Looking at their greedy faces as he opened the next envelope made me sick. Sick enough to watch next week. Riveting!
sunflower is right.

If he gets 280 + 120 a week, that's 400, so

1,600 each 4 weeks

1,733 per month

20,799 per year

... and that's take home.

So that's equivalent to a gross annual salary of nearly

30,000

It's not mega-bucks, but there are plenty of people with salaries of less than 30,000

The parents need educating, seems they have enough money coming in each week to manage a decent household. You never saw her cooking a meal from scratch. Kids are an expensive commodity but their two were last on the list for a bit of spoiling. I have a feeling they will grow up to have a chip on their shoulder.
To spend 500 on a computer when Brandon desperately needed a bed and shoes was disgraceful - selfish b!tch.

I would want my kids to grow up knowing the value of money, even if I was rich. There is no point letting your kids live in cloud cuckoo land, because things don't always stay the same.

Look at Sir Paul McCartney, his kids went to a state school, he didn't spoil them and they all seem to be decent, grounded citizens today.
Somehow, last's weeks programme didn't seem quite so cringworthy - I wonder if next weeks will feature a total bunch of scallys who take the money and p!ss it up the wall.

Whilst part of me understands the madness to go and splash out when you get money and you are not used to it, as a mother, my instinct would always be to see my kids sorted first. Giving up smoking would increase their available income and living in Brighton by the water, my priority for my kids would be to ensure that they could swim.

It also seemed as if their income was perfectly adequate to raise a family on - at times we have had a similar income and we never went short of anything and bought our own house at the same time.

I was however impressed that their only debt seemed to be the 200 council tax bill.

I question both families motives for taking part this week, whereas I didn't feel like that last week. Roll on the next one....
They get enough to have their own house, so why if theyre in council can they not afford the other bills. Oh and they'll have another one soon, the internet bill.
Does any one know why the woman didn't work and how old she is?
