My daughter was asking this morning whether America and Australia get much of our television, particularly whether they show our soaps and comedies.I mentioned BBC America but I'm not sure how much and what type of shows they show and I have no idea about Australia. Can anyone help?

We live in England. She was just wondering,as we get quite a lot of American shows and a few Australian ones, whether they get the same kind of shows from us.
I don't think this answers your question much but; I'm pretty sure it's illegal to use a skybox abroad. Sure you see loads of pubs with them but if they break, someone from sky won't come to fix it, cos they're not meant to have it.

But I do know that some of the bbc's best shows are shown to places all over the world, but it's usually a few months if not longer before they get them.
I'm sure theres an Aussie poster here -hope they pick it up -hope so:)
I'm think they get Top Gear over there, sure my friends mentioned it when I was over there last year.
I lived in NZ for a year... They had Corrie and Eastenders showing about a year behind the UK. They had all the American stuff like Friends, Csi. In fact they had a lot of the U. S stuff before it was shown in the UK. They had lots of BBC dramas and stuff too. The most surprising thing I noticed was Cinema releases, they had most films showing before the UK too!
There is a big Eastenders Fan Club in America.
I think a lot of countries that have an "English" background, like Australia or Canada, do get a lot of our TV shows.

I am not sure so many English shows are shown in the USA, except for things like Downton Abbey.
