Why do Ant and Dec's watches sometimes have black covers on them?

Maybe it is an advertising issue... or they want to hide the time, as some of the programmes may be prerecorded.

The watches are usually worn by army personnel, very often special ops. Perhaps they have delusions of grandeur.

I'll go along with both of Jomlett's possibilities. However it might also be due to the fact that reflections from their watch faces can cause glare on the screen if they reach the cameras.

didn't realise pinky and perky could tell the time...... never saw watches on them in the 70's
