This series (and the last) with Father John Paul on Barra is nowhere near as good as the ones on Scilly especially now that the very likeable Father Roddy has been moved to the mainland. Father JP is very boring and appears somewhat lazy!

Quite agree, we have decided that we will not be watching the series from now on, far too much about religion and not enough about the people there.
From a personal perspective, I've been really disappointed by how little Gaelic there is. Although everyone is completely bilingual, Gaelic is the first language of virtually everyone in the Outer Hebrides.
Look, may I point out that the series producer, Nigel Farrell, was dying during the making of that series and, indeed, did so not long after finishing it? His was the voice you hear putting the camera's questions, as it were. I knew him, he was a really nice bloke who fell in love with Barra while he was there.

He could only show what goes on within the church. He didn't choose the people or, indeed, influence what happened. It's only meant to be a reflection of what goes on. I do have some small idea what's in the rest of the series and would suggest that keeping an eye on it will be worth doing. It's not a soap, but there is some interesting stuff to come, I believe.

Cheers.

I appreciate what you say SeaJayPea but that doesn't alter the fact that in this particular series, the priest in question (John Paul) has no personality at all and appears to do the barest mimimum for the church and its community. The gentle voice of Nigel Farrell will be missed I'm sure.
