Thelma's Gypsy Girls

I have just been watching the above programme. All the girls say they left school at 12/13 years so that they could do the housework, cook, look after their siblings. I am just wondering what their mothers do once their daughters are doing all this?

I haven't been watching this, but judging by the size of some of the mothers in previous programmes, the answer seems to be "eat"

The girls get married at 16 so they then move to their own households, the mothers then have to do their own cleaning etc.

Boxtops, it seams that when the girls marry at 16-17 the chores then pass on to the next youngest girl (until there none left of course!)

Only then do the lazy mothers have to start doing their own cleaning up.

.. but they have been cleaning up themselves since they themselves were 16..... sad sort of life, it seems to me (but then I'm not domestic, it would be very unsuitable for me!)

Maybe the mothers are out selling or begging! Their is one or two in our local shopping area selling little bunches of heather.

... and I try to avoid them, they mutter at you if you decline to buy!

There used to be a gypsy lady in Romford Town Centre selling heather. I always felt sorry for her, she had really swollen legs and could barely stand. Have'nt seen her for a while.

I watched Thelma's Gypsy Girls last night - god she has a task on her hands.
Thelma I think has spent too much time with the gypsies - her house was decked out just like one of their caravans {:o(

Just watched tonights Thelmas Gypsy Girls, poor Thelma she is at the end of her tether, those girls are driving her mad, they are a waste of time and energy.
