Absolutely brilliant but heartbreaking acting tonight from David Neilson (Roy) - really must be the best ever acted scenes in Coronation Street. It seemed so real ........ scared me to death, hearing about this dreadful illness though.
David Neilson is arguably the best actor on Corrie.
Question Author
Definitely the best actor, his face is so full of expression - In Corrie, I'm sure Roy won't be the same without Hayley, they belong together, why on earth did the actress playing Hayley decide to leave - so cruel to do it to poor Roy!
yes agree but how well did hayley portray the terror, she really looked frightened, a natural reaction portrayed to perfection.
Question Author
Yes I agree Dotty they are both brilliant. I hope to goodness Hayley doesn't die on Christmas Day and ruin everyone's Christmas dinner, that would be more than we could take ............... but I've a nasty feeling they have this up their sleeve ........................
Even the doctor seemed real! Great acting all round. And poor Fiz!
Question Author
Great scenes acted tonight - one in the eye for Eastenders at the soap awards I hope!
Please let the soap six months be six months and not shrink time like they do for pregnancies, I think a Valentines Day exit for Hayley will be appropriate actually.
Is this entertainment ? Somebody actually decided to run this story .The actors go home after a days filming but real people are going through it .So should it be in light entertainment show like this ?
It has been doing the same thing for over 50 years, and mainly done it well.
Question Author
Yes weecalf that went through my mind while watching it - not good for someone who actually has pancreatic cancer....
Lots of people go through lots of stuff though. The soaps can't avoid all contentious or unhappy story lines however much they might upset others.
Yes they can avoid these story lines .When it suits it stated its fictional but if some one suggests the story was well delt with the makers are up for the back slapping .
what would you like the storylines to be then weecalf? everything is happening to someone somewhere! divorce, pregnancy, miscarriage, accidents, illnesses, trouble with the law, car crashes, redundancy, domestic violence. There would be nothing to act.
Brilliant acting from David Neilson long overdue for best soap actor award.
I still have vivid memories of my Mother in law and my Father dying from this disease. If Corrie do it sensitively then it will give people who have been unaffected, either themselves ,or their family,an insight into how this pitiless disease can progress.Because it is not only the patient but the family who suffers.
I think you're outnumbered, weecalf. Soaps have always portrayed real life. The acting was superb and very moving.
Question Author
How sad for you grumpy, its hard on the family when one dies but two from the same illness must be awful. I know of a young chap only in his early twenties who died of it very suddenly last year, he died only a few weeks after diagnosis - a real shock for his family and friends.
