... By reason of insanity. Has any one been following this programme? Two episodes so far. I love listening to him. I think he has a very comfortable interview style to get the best from people. I think people feel very relaxed with him. He's clever, has a great understanding of just how far to probe.
Of course he is, which is why I said he has adopted the Nebbish persona, which is not the same as actually being a Nebbish.
Appearing slightly awkward and unsure gives people confidence around him, and they don’t notice his cleverly probing questions, that is what makes him so good at what he does.
He's " one of us" in that he can appear almost amused/bemused by what he sees...there is a kind of naïveté about him. Yet,as you say,he asks such pointed questions that get right into the guts of a subject.
Watching now.
If you have not see Louis Theroux s previous work you really must. This man is a genius interviewer he gets right into the nub without being nasty or (outwardly) controversial, if you can bear to watch his interview with Jimmy Saville is terrifying but fascinating. ( not one moment credit the the monster Saville intended from me I promise )
Next weeks Documenty is about "children" transgendering from being as young 5+ year old. I will leave that can of worms unopened for now! But Yikes how sad.
Did you watch both episodes pasta?
Jake, that man reminded me of the actor 'Richard Pryor' ... I thought him mentally ill.
I have seen previous interviews UK, I like his style.
Annea, seems most of his family are in media.
I have read a number of his fathers books (Paul Theroux - They are bit like Bill Bryson in style) mainly travelogues in areas I have also traveled, Very much recommended!
