Was it necessary to show that kiss between Gay ( ups missed out the R ) and Paul in Emmerdale at 7-15pm.
Some viewers do not wish to see this, especially when there are very young children present, who cannot understand why two men are kissing each other in such a way.
What homosexuals get up to in private is their own affair, but do we need such scenes thrust into our faces on TV.
Why wasn't a warning given out that this Soap contains scenes likely to offend the viewer?

Exactly, Ethel...............my parents have just celebrated 45 years of padlock.
None of my acquaintances has a gay parent, although there seem to be quite a lot of uncles or aunties who are/ought to be.........
And some of us gay parents have heterosexual children, too..........

It should not matter in this day in age like Ethel said young kids would not batter an eye lid!! children should be taught that love is love!! Not who loves who or when a man loves a woman e t c but simply humans love very much!!! When somone loves another they show effection through a kiss and hugging!!!! Gender should not come into it in this day n age!"!
I am very suprised by your answer Ethel, it is not the kind of answer I would have expected from you, and I thought you were rather rude to suggest that the children could be programmed by bigoted, prejudiced elders.
My point is that some children, who perhaps had never seen two adult males taking part in what can only be discribed as a very passionate kiss, may be inclined to ask questions that some adults may not be prepared at their young age to explain about homosexuality.
Perhaps you are the type of person that wish to see widescale promoting of homosexuality in our schools. Well I don't, this does not make me a bigot. Are we not allowed to have our own views on homosexuality, without the Liberal Left trying to label us biggots?

A good example is dirt. Very young children will investigate the inside of their nappies and put their fingers in their mouth. They will eat worms and anything else they come across. They only learn to feel revulsion at these acts because of the parents' reactions.
A young child has no way of knowing that anything is wrong, different, abnormal, shocking unless they are told either verbally or by reactions of those around them.

There are more causes to be outraged at - the current drug culture, the crime rate, binge drinking....... all of which do harm to society as a whole. The 6% or so of the population that is homosexual does not affect me one jot. The fact of their homosexuality does not harm me, frighten me or cost me anything in any way.
People do not choose their sexuality - it is not a personal choice. It is the way we are born and knowing about homosexuality or seeing two males kissing will not influence a person's sexual inclinations.
You assume that I am a white heterosexual woman - you don't know that. All you know for sure is that I am a retired woman. Now you are assuming I wish to promote homosexuality. I don't believe it can be promoted in the sense you mean. And to say it will be compulsory is a nonsense.

1/ When I say young children I do not mean infants, as you obviously assume. But even so I do not know of any child who is allowed to investigate its nappies and then put it's fingers in its mouth, or to eat worms and anything else it comes across. But if they were these would be infants/babies who since they can only talk gibberish, would not be particularly interested in anything, let alone two males kissing. The children I refer to be those that are young children who would run a mile rubbing their lips and cheeks, if a female, other than their mother were to kiss them. So imagine what disgust they would find in two males kissing. These revulsions are not taught by adults, it is all part of growing up.
2/ You say you remember when homosexuality was illegal. Why do you think that for centuries it was illegal until we reached this libertarian age, who know in the future things that are unlawful and repugnant to us now, will no longer be so. Just because the law is more relaxed, does not suddenly make them acceptable.

You have explained the revulsion exhibited by these children (why is it always 'the children' ?) at the thought of being kissed by ANYONE......................I fail to be able to cross the chasm of reasoning by which you reach the conclusion that they will be 'disgusted' by the sight of two men kissing.................I'm sure that ALL kissing is met by a hearty 'yeeeeuuck'.
2. At least the law now is no longer used to punish people in what is a victimless crime. Because something is repugnant (your word) that doesn't actually make it illegal.
3. People who do actually have 'personal' experience of homosexuality are a lot less frightened by it than people who don't................and are therefore likely to have a more balanced point of view.
4. Naturally, someone using statements as enlightened as yours wouldn't miss an opportunity to slip in a snide comment to HIV/AIDS................especially when it is the incidence of heterosexual transmission which is exploding in UK.
