Does anyone know what's happened to Heartbeat on ITV? When they axed future series they said they had enough episodes recorded already to last for a couple of years, since when there have been no new ones shown. I need my regular fix of North York moors scenery!

Don't know about any new episodes but you may have to settle for the repeats on ITV3 at teatime. In last night's episode Mike Bradley arrived as the new PC from London. Nick Rowan is currently on his honeymoon after marrying Jo, the school teacher.
Apparently there are 9 more episodes that will be shown from next month...

Thanks, both of you. I'm not sure that nine episodes should be classed as a 'stockpile', but at least that's better than nothing.

Yes, I am watching the repeats on ITV3. They've already been shown several times on other satellite channels, and I think I can probably join in with the dialogue now, but it's worth it for the sight of the heather on the moors and the North Sea coast. IMO there is no more beautiful place on earth, but I may be biassed.
I always thought Heartbeat was popular but it i found it bewildering why time never really shifted as it was 1968 for about four years at one time. I think they were all stuck in a 1960's causality loop forced to go relive that era again and again......Help!
You are right tearinghair, the Yorkshire Moors is a starkly beautiful place.
History clings to that blanket of heather-rich moorland.
I like it stuck in the 60s, it brings memories back, especially the cars, I used to have a Mini Van.

This is out of order though, in the link above, it says:
'' Viewers in Sweden have already seen the concluding installments, as TV station TV4 chose not to break up the series ''

ITV have been doing this for two or three years now, particularly with Heartbeat and The Royal (tho Scarborough is a little too far south for my liking!) - starting a new series of, say 14 episodes and then showing only six or eight of them before having a three-month break while showing something else. It is INFURIATING! And actually, on Sunday evenings I much prefer something fairly gentle to the 'gritty modern dramas' that the programme-makers seem to think we ought to watch. But then, I'm just a Grumpy Old Woman.
Well that makes two of us tearinghair. I also love Heartbeat and The Royal bring them back I say, these reality programmes they have on all the time are driving me nuts. Have you visited the locations were they have been filmed. My hubby and I went a couple of years ago and had a wonderful time.

Yes, moonshadow, we try to go every year but haven't been for nearly two this time - next trip in early September, when the heather should still be beautiful. My mother's family comes from the area so I've known coast and moors since I was about five.
Heatbeat has been axed - no plans for any future series. David Lonsdale is a good friend of mine, lives nearby - lovely man!
