I don't wish to trivialise the matter and I know this is irrelevant. I know someone who worked on the set of this film, which was made in Scotland. He was highly amused one lunch time when he encountered the cast smoking and playing poker in their habits!

'amused' - I would have thought it be a harrowing to act out such a film. I couldn't laugh as a viewer.

I take on board your reply and refer you to my first sentence. But, as I said, my friend observed the cast during a break, a break where they were relaxing and having some 'normal time'. As an actor you take on a role but you must also know how to shake off the role before it consumes you.

From what I've been told..no it wasn't exaggerated. Not in the slightest.

It also comes from Religion. The girls were sinners..!!

Not that it made much difference. I know someone who not so long ago got 90k compensation for the abuse dished out to him by the Nuns. Little too late though....he's going to drink himself to death.

my mum gew up in an orphanage for girls in dublin..called the birds nest ,one of the institutions now being investigated in the ongoing historical child abuse investigations in ireland. my mother and the other girls were subjected to regular beatings/bullying by the nuns who ran the place..my mums now in her late sixteys and still remains very affected by the years she spent there.
