RENAULT MEGANE
I left my lights on all day yesterday resulting in a flat battery
i have tried bump starting - jump leads - and even a new (well fairly new) battery this afternoon
and nothing - not even a ignition light - could it be something to do with the alarm / imobilser???
or could there be a fuse issue?? or even a fuel cut off switch in the boot
hope not as i cant get in the boot as i cant get in the boot as the central locking doesnt work
also i have just found out i hadnt put the screw back in the plastic bit which is like a windscreen seal! - whichi had to remove to get the batttey out - but have since put it back in - to earth it - but still nothing
p.s itsa a renault megane 2.0 S reg

The normal immobiliser is on the key and talks to ECU, and you will get lights with ignition.
Mine has a tailgate button .. doesn't yours?
Have you checked continuity on the main battery lead that goes around back to starter and main loom? There is a device built-in at the terminal usually to protect .. you may have damaged it mechanically.
Earth should be ok. Engine earth is cable on front of block.
It's important to refit the trim properly, as water can run down and get onto the main connector block under the bonnet hinge. If ABS light comes on or speedo does not work .. it is water damage at connectors there. under black plastic cover.

and only one had been put back on
so now i have got lights on etc
and the engine is turning over
but the alarm comes on and even when i press the button i wont switch off
also the is an orange light on - with like a wavy symbol on it
not sure if thats the coils or engine management light
so still struggling - any ideas??

this looks like someone else had a similar problem
I have a problem since removing the battery for head gasket change, it would appear that the key and immobiliser unit have de coded themselves. Does anyone have any ideas as to how i can recode them or get the immobiliser off. As it is the car will not start it is just dead when you turn the ignition to start it.
The key fob unlocks the doors, but does not disarm the immobiliser
Had this problem with 306's and found if you turned ignition on before connecting battery then immobiliser disarmed and everything worked as it should.
Is there any quick fix for this one or is it a trip to the dealers.
and this was the answer
have you checked the owners manual to see if there's anything relevant?
just had a quick look at autodata and it says the immob can only be reprogrammed with diagnostic equipment, but you can temporarily disable it with 4 digit code on the security card that should be included in the folder that contains the owners manual, instructions on how to use it are in the owners manual.
so my questtion now is - where do i put the code in

"when I use the Renault forum"??
How would I know when you use the Renault forum?
... and you don't have a Renault, do you?
There are some good compiled articles on there .. but many posts on there are by kids wanting to keep their Clio's and older Meganes on the road for nowt.
