I recently parked my car in Hayling Island beach car park.I paid £3.60 for time put ticket on dashboard correct way up etc, closed the drivers door and went away.On return 30 mins before exit time I had a fine for £50 ticket on screen. When I looked for reasons I noticed the ticket was the wrong way up not showing the amount/time etc. What HAD happened was as door was closed the draught had turned the ticket over when door was closed and i didn't see it.I have been to office and filled an appeal form in and must wait for reply. If they say I will still have to pay fine what do I do next? I know it is a genuine mistake but hope They will accept my reasons.

I couldn't believe this had happened and did a re run to see if it was possible and over it went as door was closed.
Don't most tickets have a sticker that peels off the back, so you can stick the ticket to the window ??
Sorry for sounding unsympathetic ...... good luck with your appeal :)
Hopefully fair play will prevail and they'll withdraw the penalty. If not you pay the fine or to choose to appeal through the courts.

Warden assistant said I should have put a brick on ticket. Then they would have said they couldn't read it!!!!!
Not all car park tickets are peelable. They probably cost more to make.

The tickets were not the Sticky type.
You can always appeal at the hearing .. My lord I was so overcome at the invigorating ambiance of the seaside, I was overcome by the sun the sand and the sea.
Sorry .... your guilty.
The moral of the story .. Beware of the draught on Hayling Island.
I tend to check if they are just to be placed on dashboard and also take a photo on mobile phone.

Then I would not pay the fine, I cannot, however tell you what you should do.
Because I know this happens I made meself a little see through wallet to display that type of ticket on the dashboard...worked a treat. No good to know now picker but maybe for future parking?
I think it's mean to fine someone £50 for a ticket that's not the right way up. The ticket is genuine and and paid in full, if you still have it photocopy it and send the ticket to the Council with your appeal. Ok so they have a parking attendant that can't read upside down - not your fault.
If you can produce the ticket you purchased and the time coincides with that on the penalty notice then surely it's obvious that you've paid to park and discretion can be used in cancelling the fine.
What a bummer – going to Hayling Island and getting a parking ticket.
Same sort of thing happened to my mum years ago, she'd put her disabled sticker upside down in the window.

I think you'll have to pay....
Either I'm misundertanding this, or other people on here are.
From what I understand, I think the OP is saying that the draught from the door closing, has blown the ticket and turned it over so it's face down, not upside down as some people seem to be thinking.
Apologies if I'm wrong by the way lol ..............
I read it as facedown too, don't think you could be done for having a parking ticket upside down surely.
