It's probably a loose earth strap on the battery.
I had an Alfa Romeo and all the electrics went off when I switched from dipped to main beam, lights ignition, every thing electrical. Problem was a loose connection as mentioned.

Check the connections are tight and clean, including where the earth is connected to the body work.
