hi all i have a problem with my astra 1.6 16v 1999. basically their is a kind of grinding or whiring noise come from my back brakes/wheels. i have been told the brakes are fine but the noise is not going away, and its not the fact they need to bed in.????? also when i put my wipers on intermediate the blades go to the top of the window and get stuck but when their on constantly they work fine. does anyone have any idea about these problems???????????

it sounds like your wheel bearings,could be the problem

Would have thought it was the brakes binding - but as you've been told that they're ok, we will have to guess as Norman says the wheel bearing - can't remember if they are a taper bearing or not but if so, they are easy changed with a hammer and suitable drift/punch.
