Vauxhall Corsa gear prob

I put this question in here ages ago but no-one answered......*sniff sniff* ....Anyway, the problem is still ongoing so I'm trying again ....why does my corsa auto sometimes lose power and flash the 's' on the dash which usually means I'm in 'sport' mode (except then its a steady light, not flashing)? It happens intermittentently when I start it up and is put right by switching the engine off, waiting a few moments then trying again. Sometimes I have to repeat this a few times before the s stays off and I have power. I assume its a gearbox problem?.....

Yep, a flashing "S" means the gearbox is at fault and requires plugging into a diagnostic machine to find out whats wrong.

mdoo - no joy I'm afraid...it still does it :0( It seems to happen a lot more often in the cold weather too....

How do I check the transmission fluid level?

mdoo - I also forgot to ask - would the transmission fluid have been checked during its recent service?
