Hi there,

I recently bought a 1996 Audi A4 1.8. Its in great condition but there are a couple of problems and (being female) I don't really know what to do. The first issue is that the heating is cold all the time. The temperature of the engine seems to be fine but the air coming through the heating system is always cold. It goes from freezing to just cold but doesn't get much better than that. My bf has flushed the system to check for blockages and has checked the water pump and both of these are fine. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

Also, the ABS light comes on if I go over 70 miles an hour. It stays on and only goes back off once I turn off the engine. The brakes appear to be ok and I haven't had any problems but both myself and my boyfriend are puzzled.

I'd appreciate any advice at all! Thanks

Ask bf to check that the heater valve is opening and closing properly it may be stuck partially closed or not opening at all.

As regards the abs its probably telling you that the national speed limit has been exceeded
i have exactly the same heater problems with my ford KA i do know that the control is run by electric diode but ive changed mine and still have same fault.. there is a hot water feed going into the heater but only a cold return maybe something at fault within the heater itself???? im baffled too :(
