I want to get my car mot'd but its struggles to start its got a new battery. everytime i start it takes ages and when it does loads of black smoke comes out the exhaust anyone got any ideas? is it the spark plugs?

Diesel engines don't actually have spark plugs.

There is what's called a glow plug however which could well need replacing from your description of the problem.
