Vauxhall corsa 1.7 DTI grinding when accelerating

Hi I have an 2002 vauxhall corsa 1.7dti. I have noticed recently that when I accelerate the car behaves normally until it reaches high revs and then makes a grinding noise. When I change gear and the revs drop this noise stops until the revs increase again in that gear. Any idea what this could be? Im also due to chanage the cv joints...could this be anything to do with it? Thanks Jodie
