renault clio not starting

Ive just bought a 51 plate clio as a non-runner the battery has been fully charged and the key works off the fob locks and unlocks the car when i put the key in the ignition the immobiser light constantly flashes fast and when i turn the key to start it just makes a clicking sound from the passenger side of the car

can anyone help me please ??

It does sound like the battery, but, check the connections to the battery - + then check the connections at the starter / solenoid, also put a battery in the key.

Sounds like the immobiliser to me.
Have you got an owner's manual to refer to?

I used to work at an airport car park, and remember we often had Renault owners suffering immobiliser problems.
