What type of belts should I take in my white van?

As you know I am considering buying a small van, and may well need to join the A.A. in case of breakdown. I have been told that in the event of a new belt being fitted to my van, then it would speed things up dramatically if I were already carrying the belts in my van. Can anyone tell me how many belts I need for say an Astramax van, and what are their names? I know that one is called the fanbelt, but are there not more than this?

If the timing (cam) belt was changed according to the service schedule, it would be unlikely to fail. If it did, there's a fairly high possibility of some serious (and expensive) damage occurring to the engine, which the AA certainly wouldn't be able to fix by the roadside. So there might be little point to carrying a spare belt.

Good servicing should also ensure that the likelihood of an alternator (fan) belt failing was kept fairly low but they're cheap, and easy to fit, so it might be worth carrying a spare just in case.
