What's the worst car you've ever owned in regards to reliability and annoyance? I've owned some bangers in my time (i've never seen the point in spending more than a couple of grand on a car, mostly a lot less), but none come close to the Renault Laguna I have now. It has an amazing ability in that as soon as i fix one problem another appears.
Didn't actually own them...company cars that got changed every 3 months. It has to be Citreon (can't remember what type) It was the seat belts...they were really hard to clip in. Trying to strap 3 kids in the car every morning was a nightmare.
A black mini -way back in the eons of time it was a disaster ,I spent a small fortune on it and it still let me down. I sold it and the next owner kept it for 5 years and never had a days trouble !
I know I shouldn't have parted with the then massive sum of £125 (massive to me) but after 2 days the rear nearside suspension parted company with the chassis, dug into the road and felt like I had gone over a massive speed bump. And that was before speed bumps were introduced.
Arther Daley car-salesman said it was sold as seen, wired it up with a coat hanger, put it in a local car auction, sold it for £60 and spent £59 on an Austin A60 than ran for 3 years!!!
PS Ive also had 2 Renault 4s. First was a 3-speed, second was a 4-speed in which I spent 1st three months complaining about the performance until I realised I was always pulling away in 2nd
A Renault Megane. Cost a fortune to keep on the road, more than I paid for it originally. Cost me over £600 for the last MOT then 2 weeks later the head gasket blew. Any hillls and I used to feel like getting out and pushing and if there was anyone in the back seats it would hit the exhaust on every single speed bump.
a yugo. only car i could afford at the time (it was given to me for free).
i used to have to drive from london to crawley one evening a week, and then back again on fridays. on average i refilled the radiator at least 3 times each way. i still remember having to push it through the toll at dartford once.
Mini Metro-lost count the amount of times it overheated! or a close tie with an Austin Allegro which seemed to be held together with gaffer tape funnily enough both were brown and I've never had a brown car since! there jinxed...
A Suzuki, can't remember the model, which was my first ever new car in 1982. It was a tiny 2+2 coupe and went like the proverbial off a stick...........except that it wouldn't start in the rain.
I've only had 2 cars, but my first one was a disaster, a fiat punto, just keot breaking! The radiator went first, then a while later the head gasket went, then on christmas day last year, it decided to break down when I tried getting home after visiting my mum, it is now in a pile somewhere! :D
The guys on TopGear had a pretty low opinion of them too. They had a story about cars from behind the Iron Curtain and decided to put one of them up against the worst Britannia had to offer and they picked the Marina.
The Marina triumphed but its demise apparently upset the Marina enthusiasts club (so they claimed). TopGear then proceeded to drop a paino on one.
my sister had a morris marina. first car she bought. my dad went nuts because it had twin carbs and would be expensive on insurance. i have fond memories of that car though. she bought a mark iv cortina after that.
