Blue badge misusers...
Just been watching the Panorama program featuring these selfish lowlives. Why are people such idiots? They behave appallingly when caught and make any number of lame excuses. How shall we stop this? Personally I'd remove the badge for a year each time. The real badge holders would then police this for us, what do you think?

I often suspect someone but they may not have an obvious physical disability. I also believe that there are some people who get them because they are old. I also know of a friend who was turned down despite having had a leg amputated.
Sometimes the badgeholder has a disability that has short periods of remission where they are a lot better... but if they over exert themselves on those days they can be incapacitated for days afterwards... a friend is like that...she has some pain on mobilising all the time but copes pretty well but if she walks too far she suffers severe pain and swelling that can put her out of action for a week or more....
Also she will sometimes drive to places and I will go with her and do the shopping etc while she has to wait in the car... things are not always as they seem at first

I watched this too, although I do think the program was scraping the barrel slightly. I wasn't massively shocked by any of the scams, especially this one.
I honestly believe that the man paying his mothers bills, didn't think he was doing anything wrong. They took the badge from him, which is fair enough, but to then give him a ticket as well, I think was a bit over the top and uncalled for.
The only one that did make me really angry, was the chav woman in the black car, who having been caught using a disabled badge, sped off up the road and dragged a poor old woman out of a nursing home, just to save her own skin. I was absolutely gobsmacked at that, and thought it was disgraceful!
I have to admit, I've parked in a disabled bay before as it genuinely was the only space left and I needed it very very briefly. I came back to find a note on my windscreen, saying "Fraud. I hope one day you ARE disabled".

mungbeanz, are you actually serious with your remark?
What a lot of very narrow minded people dont seem to understand is that many people can walk perfectly normally to the shop without anyone knowing what the problem is or why they have a disabled badge, do you really think being disabled only means that you cant walk walk a few meters without looking like you are about to collapse.
My good lady "Carakeel" has had remarks made to her and overheard them being said about her when parking in a disabled bay, they have no idea what pain she goes through just so she can look "normal" when walks, she doesn't want to look like an invalid, is that so wrong?

a few years ago my wife broke her leg so when visiting Tescos i parked in the disabled space while i got an instore wheelchair, the looks i got from so called badge holders who were sometimes 4 up in there cars who had no sign of mobility problems. Never did get into an argument but i was really primed up for one...
My mum is the same Ratter. The looks she gets sometimes is unbelievable. People shouldn't judge people by age and automatically think that they are healthy.
Talking about misusing blue badges though... When i'm at work we are allowed to park at the back of the shop. Another girl and I went out to go home one day and a woman had parked right across the back of her car completely blocking her in. A guy told us that she was in the amusements next door so we went in to ask her to move. Her arguement was that she had a blue badge so she was allowed to park there! What rubbish!! Needless to say my friend was raging and went off her head at her.

I think some of you complainants need to get a life.Let me tell you a true story. A friend of mine was a blue badge holder, one day I went to Morrison's with him on walking away from the disabled bay a woman gave him abuse saying he had no right to the blue badge because he was walking a short distance and no visible signs of disablement were evident.
Well my friend was dead less than 3 months later,he was a cancer sufferer.
I know that there are people who abuse the system. However your statement Carlton 23 is ridiculous.
Mxyzptik....My wife is a leg amputee and has also been turned down for a blue badge at 75 years.
Although she has been fitted with an artificial leg she cannot walk far so i have to take her shopping in a wheel chair.
