Hi All
Wasnt sure whether to put this in Insurance or Motoring.. but hey!
Husband had an accident a few weeks ago on motorbike... very slow speed accident... only him involved... damage appeared minor apart from both wheels being damaged...
Insurance co have written bike off as uneconomical to repair - Any parts that were scraped or scratched have been quoted as new parts...
We dont feel this is necessary... and apart form the buckled wheels the bike would probably have been ride-able after accident!
Bike is valued at £5000 by them... will they offer us the salvage back (purchase is) or do they not do that anymore?
I know the bike COULD be repaired for less than their garage as the scuffs and scratches are only cosmetic and so could be ignored.
I bought back a car of my own many years ago - under same circumstances but wasnt sure if they did it for motorbikes...
Anyone know?
Thanks
This happenned to me, they gave me a choice the Bike+£x or £y. if you accept the former you get the bike and some dosh but it will be a cat D write off.
same thing happened to me in `87. I had my GS BMW R80 enduro knicked outside my newly acquired flat in Brum, within 3 weeks of moving in. Coppers said it was found in Blackpool, and was a write off. I didnt question it at the time, but just claimed the insurance money, this was the same ammount which i paid for it 2nd hand.
Anyway, found out several months later, that a large police headquarters just happened to be in blackpool. What were the cops riding at the time? Bm´s,
i rest my case.
