Please solve an argument for me

I have an 07 plate Mercedes SLK. I love that bloody car. It's got 85k on the clock. The OH has just managed to sell it (not that I asked him to, so that is an issue between us) - he got £10k for it.

He wants me to buy either a BMW Alpina or an 03 Jag XKR in its place. Frankly, I don't see the point in trading in an 07 car for an 03 car with similar mileage. And I bloody hate BMWs. Please can someone give me some substantial reason for keeping my SLK other than the fact that its mine and I like it.

It is Sidkid. He had no authority to sell, therefore he is a bit buggered on that argument. Whilst he might have made an agreement, he has said it is subject to my agreement (thank goodness). He has negotiated a sale (subject to the above) but that's as far as it has gone.

No, golly. Technically there is no sale (if we apply the strict law of contract and agency). However, emotionally, I have a prat sitting next to me on the sofa saying "He's agreed £10k, you need to sell". Never mind about the ins and outs legally (I have no problem dealing with such things).

What it comes down to is him putting me under pressure to sell the car. I need some good reasons why not (other than the fact that I happen to like it a lot).

The substantial reason is that you love that car and if he sells it for something that you don't love even more, it will be a sticking point between you and it will come up in every argument for the next x number of years until you kill him. Fortunately as you are an expert in all things `torts and courts' you'll get away with it but sadly for him he'll be dead! Tell him to stuff that up his exhaust.

You are all right. I shouldn't be such a pussy, but I generally let him do "car stuff". Today was a little too much though (and there is a massive story behind this one).
