Brake Pads and Disks for a 08 reg VW Touran.
14 Answers
kwikfit quoted me £299 for front pads and disks and £215 for the back. I contacted the VW dealership and they quoted £259 for front and £249 for the back. I expected VW to be expensive but i expected Kwikfit to be more resonable. The guys at work have given me the numbers for their garages where they assure me i will get a far better deal. Does anyone know if the kwikfit fit reasonable or are they trying to rip me off?

the job for the fronts took me 1.5hrs on a trolley jack and the disks cost me £90.00 and the pads £49.00
The Rear Disks cost me £80.00 and the rear pads £35.00 each side with the wind back tool took about 40mins.
So...
£139.00 for front parts, and approx £40 per hour at a guess for the fronts = £219.00 (mates rates)
£115 for the rear parts and £40 per hour (or side) = £195.00 (mates rates)
sorry if thats too much info... but hope it helps..
I guess the VW prices aren't too bad.

Thanks for your reply. When i had my MOT done last March. VW advised they needed doing but they chap in servicing told me not to worry as i had last least 6 months wear. I took my car to kwikfit to get my quote and he had a quick look ( they were going to do a full check tomorrow but i cancelled it) and said it looked as though the backs were wearing too. I did think this was strange, hence me looking futher into it before getting them done. I have had the car from new and done 46k.
this sounds daft... but.. VW and AUDI are the same group of companies.
just for comparison.... ask Audi to quote for the Cam Belt and then VW.
I had an audi a4 (same engine) and the cambelt cost 179 for Audi to fit.
When my touran needed doing, the VW garage wanted 70 MORE than Audi..
I know I used to be a VW techie, but I couldnt be bothered with doing it myself.
The VWAUDIFORUM has independant VW specialists what will do "just as good a job" but cheaper :-) hope it goes well for you!

Pretty, if you look for an independent VAT reg garage family owned 7 ask them for a quote for the whole lot, your brakes etc, you will be silly to go to the dealer & even more of an idiot going to K.F. I do not like people & garages ripping people off & the big one's do, do some home work on the garage's in your area & compare their prices, & batter each one with the last price you have been quoted & can they better it " If the want the trade they will drop I can assure you.
