Suzuki swift diesel turb not working.
12 Answers
The turbo on my wifes diesel swift is playing up. It works ok for no more than 5 minutes when the car is started from cold. After that all power is lost..... If its turned off and left for a while it will work again for a few minutes... There are no other symptoms apart from the turbo makes more noise than usual, but only after a couple minutes of running.... There is no engine management light on.
Im hoping its only a small problem that I can fix myself.
Thanks in advance

The light should come on when you first switch on the ignition, then go off once the engine has started.
It sounds as though you have a fault that is triggering the ecu into reduced power get you home mode. Possibly just a sensor going down, so get the vehicle plugged into a diagnostic.

i have your answer turbo gets noisey engine loses power its cos your turbo is on its way out the noise is either the bearing going or worse case the turbines are catching cos the bearing has gone if these brake off they are gonna get shot straight into your engine through the induction system and it will cost telephone numbers to fix pretty soon your gonna start gettin black smoke this will mean its pumping oil through your engine take it to a garage and get then to diagnose the problem for sure but ill bet you a gold pig the turbo is on the fritz you can change it yourself but you will need to be very competent in mechanics a new one will be between £350 and £500 in most small cars you can remove yours and have it reconditioned for about £200 but it mean having the car off the road for a week or 2 the more you drive this vehicle the more damage you are doing you need to get this looked at as a matter of urgancy unless you fed up with it and want to introduce it to the engine reaper
It may be that the turbo lubrication is working OK while the engine oil is still cold but not as it warms up and gets thinner. Are you sure the engine oil grade is correct?
BTW A turbo can be wrecked very quickly by switching the engine off too quickly after hard running. The turbo relies on oil pressure for lubrication and stopping the engine before the turbo has spun down will damage the bearings.
