not a lot, as a famous person once said. in order for a particular manufacturer to make claims about their product being better than another there has to be a difference. but as part of my work involves on occasion visiting one of the biggest oil refineries in the uk; and working on the trucks that carry the product i have to say that with so many different companies carrying diesel and petrol out of the site, how much difference can there be?

just use cherry pop off some gypsie it's alot cheaper.

Shell, Texaco and BP Ultimate are all considered to contain more additives and detergents to help keep the engine running smoothly, more efficiently and with more power. I swear by using one of these brands at all times as I have suffered before using cheapo supermarket fuel in a modern, costly diesel engined car.
I have run a 2 litre (M reg) diesel Montego, a Nissan 2.2 (03 reg) diesel and Rover 25 2 litre (05 reg) diesel.  I have never had any problem with any diesel fuel that I've used and I always fill up at the cheapest place!
no there is no difference at all as all uk fuel has to meet a certain a.p.i. and s.a.e. grade as well as the r.o.n.(95RON) for example.
