How do people get away without having these documents and still be able to drive their cars on the roads? If they can get away with it why cant we? Whats the plans for government to catch these cheaters?

They get away with it until they get caught, b*st*rds.  There are other posts here telling of gov't initiatives to catch them, b*st*rds.
The real fault here lies with the archaic system. surley road tax should be included in the petrol price - no way can you get away with it then. An MOT certificate should be displayed permenantly in the cars windscreen and an insurance, colour coded to indicate status (group etc) issued to an individual should travel with that individual from vehicle to vehicle and also displayed. Or is this just to easy?

MOT's are soon to be recorded in the police national database along with insurance and tax details, so just by typing in the reg no, the police will know if a car is taxed, MOT'd or insured instantly.  and just to echo a point made in another post :- No MOT - No Insurance!

The sooner these sods are dealt with, the better!

I thought non taxed cars were automatically highlighted via a database these days (y'know the advert - 'we don't have to look anymore'). This should also catch non insured drivers and probably those without an MOT as at least insurance must be proved to get the tax? I say shoot them.
