Baldric, I've have 2 of theses cars, been in snow / ice on many occasions & never ever had trouble, as you & Tony has said, to much pedal, & driven properly, at least we have one thing in common Baldric.
As far as I'm concerned ummmm, you are.

Depending where & what the position is Ummmm, the higher the gear thye better the traction.
Baldric -neither do I.
In snow, you need to be in the highest gear possible for the speed at which you are travelling.
Incidentally, I used to drive a 5-series BMW - no problem at all in snow, IF you modify your driving style to suit.
TWR, ours is number 5 or 6, never had a problem

E36 Coupe, the car is as safe as the person the steers / controls & drives it as weather condition permits.
To be fair, they're quite popular in Germany, and they get a lot more snow than we do!

Woofgang you are so wrong, the more torque you're putting down, on slippery conditions, the more likely you are to slide!
drive in the highest gear you can an drive as if you have no brakes and very small steering lock. No sudden movements.
Imagine there are eggs on top of your brake and accelerator pedals, and drive so you are never in a situation where you would press hard enough to brake them.
as a bodyshop some of the first cars we get in are 4 wheel drives (many rolled), the owners get too cocky and think they are bombproof.....which they are not. You can just as easily lose a 4WD in the ice/snow as any other vehicle if not driven correctly.
No, I love my Smart Car but it's absolutely useless on snow/ice.
4x4's are great when being driven forward, but the minute you lift off the throttle and brake they behave exactly like a normal car, which a lot of people just don't realise.
A bit like roller skates craft ;o)
i can see you guys like your BMWs, but i have seen so many holdups and been out to recoverys where a BMW/MERC is just sitting across the road with the wheels spinning going no where and all the front wheel drive vehicles happily driving around them.
... oops, I meant break them
Yes I have one of those hated 4x4s, I can go past everyone and really annoy them.
I love my rear wheel drive cars in snow, steer with the pedal, wonderful!
Appropriate name then!
i know where you are coming from DangerUXD, great fun..i was brought on RWD, when i started driving the only UK front wheel drive was the MIni..
I thought that the traction was better in low gear?
