Can anyone suggest the most reliable & fuel/emissions efficient small to medium cars which are attractive to 25-30 year old female drivers, please.

I appreciate the above is a pretty tall order, but this girl (daughter) is a very fussy buyer of anything. Personally, I have already suggested the Nissans and Toyotas, but these are 'ugly' !!

I suspect, since it is a personal taste thing for a fussy individual, they are the only ones who can come up with a choice. The Internet has loads of car manufacturers eager that you see their models. Do they make reliable & fuel/emissions efficient small to medium Ferraris ?
New or second hand?
This may help

http://www.reliabilityindex.com/

This index is calculated for many popular models and not only takes in the liklihood of a fault but also the cost of repairs.

This means some big names like the BMW M5 and Audi have models in the bottom segment because of high repair costs

The Citroen C1 is very high in the lists

You can't go far wrong with a Ford Fiesta.
You could die of boredom Hoppy :+)
I like the current small Mazda2 - very reliable, cheap to buy/insure - or possibly a Mazda3 if you want something a bit bigger.

Skoda Fabias (the current model, not some of the rather flaky older ones) are also well up in the "metal for your money" charts.

Have you driven a recent one Dave?
'fraid so Hoppy - hire car - to be fair it was the small diesel engine & so may not be a true representation of the model.
Hang on Dave - you like the Mazda 2?

That virtually is a Ford Fiesta!
Similar platform, but a much nicer product - they've diverged a lot over the years (although I think the very latest Fiesta has picked up some good ideas from the Mazda).

I can't vouch for "attractiveness" to young females, but the best small car around is the VAG city car- the VW up!, Seat Mii or Skoda Citigo - all very similar. My choice is the Skoda.

My fave car in the whole wide world...

Can never be described as "ugly".

I'm a fussy 31 year old female who wanted a small, efficient, not-ugly car. I just ordered a Kia Picanto 2 1.25 Eco. Its only group 7 for insurance, zero road tax, pretty good miles to the gallon, and (in my book) a nice looking little car. It also comes with a 7 year warranty from new.
