I have heard from a couple of different people that if you were born after March 1989 you have to wait until you are 18 before you can learn how to drive. Can anyone tell me if this is true or give me a website where i can find out? I was born in August 1989 so if this is true it will affect me. Thank you.

As far as I am aware you can still have your first driving lesson on your 17th birthday

ok thank you
This is a totally untrue rumour that is going about!
This is a rumour that keeps coming up, one I  am asked about on a regular basis. No it is not true, I am privy to the goverment bill just going in now and it is not on it and I doubt it ever will be. when I say just going in now it is unlikely to be in power till 2007 and nothing radical in it. if they changed the law 27,000 driving instructors would go bust over night, the test centres would close overnight and it would have massive impact so dont worry.
