I've just bought a used subaru legacy station wagon and have had the cam belt replaced (at the same time getting water pump, hydrolic tensioners done etc.).

It might be my imagination worrying but the car feels to have slackened off a bit in terms of accleration. It seems to accelerate fine at the start (untill about 50km), but after that i'm holding the pedel right down and it feels slower to climb.

It it normal for there to be a period of adjustment with a new cambelt?

any advice much appreciated.

get the valve and possibly ignition timing checked as it's possible it was'nt set correctly.
Paul's quite right. Setting the timing a tooth out would cause poor performance. Could well be what has happened if it was OK before the belt change.
