Removing A Mercedes Bonnet Emblem?

After 12 years faithful service I am at last exchanging my old C220 Mercedes for a new B180. However I would like to retain my spring loaded
(Three point Star) Bonnet emblem and transfer it to my new car. Unfortunately I just can't see how to remove it! Can anyone help on this matter? If so I would be grateful for your advice - Many thanks

I did note the 'spring loaded' bit, but, given the fact it's 12 years old
would it comply with todays construction regulations?

Llonaid, they are very difficult to remove without causing damage for the very reason that thieve's and vandals used to try and remove them.

Should you be able to remove the three pointed star it would be impossible to fix it to your new b-class without also causing damage. It would also spoil the look of your new car.

Lastly, it would be a little bit naf ,in my opinion, and something worthy of a bmw driver.

you tube has it, do a search on "Mercedes hood ornament replacement" - However you'll have a lot of trouble installing it on a B class as that has a flat badge, will need a lot of fettling. Also the angle of the Bclass bonnet means that the star will not be vertical either so may look odd. Good luck.

Also, your insurer might view it as a 'modification' causing you to get an increased premium.

I did ask my OH if she'd like one for her Beemer ^^^^^
but she declined as she had no desire to be mistaken for a Taxi!
