As a young un I wanted a mini cooper. At 30 a car was to get you from A to B as cheaply as possible. At 50 I wanted a looker and every one let me down. At 59 I bought a top of the range new corsa. It ain't pretty but it never lets me down (touch wood) I do like that jag though.
There's an old girl lives in our village whose husband had a E-Type a 72 K reg. After he died she put it on the market but when it came to the crunch she couldn't sell it.She still drives it on a limited mileage insurance and she's often said she loves to see the look on peoples faces when they see a 70 year plus lady getting out of an E-Type.The car is immaculate I mean it's like it's just come out of the sales room and when ever it's parked up there's a crowd around it she's also said it's in her will that it must be sold out of the family to prevent her children and grandchildren murdering each other. If I could afford it I'd have one, even if it just sat on the drive for people to look at be jealous.
Tony. My 3 lookers were all Rovers. Brand new MG something or other. Bright Yellow, Lowered, skirts the works. 5 months old rover went bust. 5 months old many problems. Guarantee invalid. Paid about 2 thou to sort it and it didn't. It was a Fri aft car. Got rid. It was a nightmare.
They're more then good looking tony I can remember coming down the M1 in maybe '73-'74 near to the Trowel services on a nice long down hill straight.I had an MGB roadster at the time the sun was shining I'd got the hood down and my first really serious girl was by my side wind blowing in her hair as I'd got the motor wound up to a ton.I was feeling great all was well with the world until an E-Type convertible passed me like I was stood still and really pissed me off.
