Does it matter if a car battery is not disconnected from a charger after being fully charged . ( cant get to it for a while ) ?

Providing the charger is turned off and disconnected from the mains, no, it should'nt hurt for a short while.
No. I charged mine overnight, so I have no idea when it was fully charged.
Should be fine for a day or so. I've left them on charge for weeks with no problem. I think the charger stops charging when the battery is charged.
Depends on the charger. Mine goes into trickle charge mode once it senses the battery's fully charged.

treetops68 - i think you mis-read the question ? :-)
I agree with heathfield...there are some very sophisticated chargers available, some can be left on for very long periods (over winter,say). Other cheaper ones that just have one (rather high) charging rate...I wouldn't want to leave connected for longer than necessary.

Continued overcharging of a battery will cause the battery to die prematurely.
