Once again a biker has had a road accident and the yellow posters go up "Think bike--think biker". Is it not time to rejig them with "Biker THINK"

Yes Bikers should think. I've been a keen motorcyclist for over forty years and I'm still alive, (touch wood). Many don't survive. It's the exhilaration riding brings that get many in trouble. What a shame that education seems to be wasted on some.

I totally agree, I said the very same words last week. My son drives for a living and has seen it all but last week he turned a corner in mid Wales and on his side of the road was a bike overtaking a car. He told me he has had some near misses in his time but this defied all odds, he has no idea how this biker lived, he was shook up and felt physically sick all day as to what might have been! He is an excellent driver and it shows but how would he have felt with that hanging over him if things had been different?

As an ex biker I'm inclined to agree with you,

There are some dodgy ones about, I was driving up from the West Country a good few years back and a biker pulled alongside and his pillion was trying to get stuff off the boot-lid rack (MGB) I changed speed a couple of times, they kept trying, so I pulled out a bit sharpish, they swung right to avoid me and went into a field at a rate of knots, never saw them again!

I know 3 serious bikers who ride properly, but I've seen lots of idiots ride with complete disregard to speed limits and rules of the road, they appear to think they are always right and immortal.
There are a lot of posters in N Yorks with a motorcycle on and a twisty road which says 'To Die For?' Not sure whether they work.

Z-M sounds like a good idea, maybe they will reach Essex soon, the ones we have seem to be ignored.
There is a biker café not far from me and at weekends they use the roads as a race track. Hardly a weekend goes by without at least one fatality. Such a waste of life.
I think you don't notice the good riders, in the same way that you don't notice the good drivers.
As with any group the side is let down by a few idiots. Generally bikers have to have good road craft to survive. There are a lot of bad motorists out there who do a lot of silly things too.

i totally agree last week i was drivinhg home minding my own business when this idiot on a motorbike tried to over take on my inside even though there was a parked car, he basically tried to squeeze through the gap but couldnt and he scratched my car and broke my wing mirror he sped off before i could get his number plate so the only way i will think bike is with expletives i cant share on here !!!
My brother is a biker and I tend to treat bikers as if they are my brother - pull over to the left and give them space to pass. The good bikers always acknowledge this - the idiots just accelerate away to get - I always think their funeral will be before mine
Oh I fell off my bike in front of a bus, and that really concentrated me mind on whether I wanted to do it long-term....
