Like us all we travel on the overcrowded UK Motorways, I have seen up-on thousands of accidents, many deaths / Injuries, been lucky never have been involved myself in one, I has been unbelievable how people drive, take chances, at times come unstuck, in what way if you were asked could you improve Motorway Safety & try to come up with a solution to try & stop these happening?

So many things. This is just a technicality, but I can't get my head around the speed limiters on trucks today.

I used to drive artics in a previous life. A Scania V8 capable of eighty mph (with discretion, of course) could easily get past slower trucks and get out of trouble. The "bunching" of trucks that you get now simply winds other road users up.

A wound-up driver is possibly the worst kind.
^ He could wind me up anytime..........
^^ in a good way, I hope, Crafty :o)))

Divebuddy's post reminded me of a time I had to deliver to somewhere in Milan. Pre-satnav days. I paid a cab driver to lead the way. Nothing prepares you for a white knuckle trip through the centre of Milan trying to keep up with an Italian cab :o)))

The last time I was in Italy I was amazed by the number of cars with dents and scrapes on them...

Motorway are the safest roads "Or should be the safest roads going" the traffic goes one way, no right turns, no lay-by's, but there are accidents, regards L.Drivers going onto the Motorway to learn, that is asking for trouble, your reactions, the speed of others, Joining / leaving, there should be an intense book course regards these roads, Accidents are "Caused " by inexperience . stupidity / travelling too close / not accelerating from the on-coming slip Road / Hard Shoulder , or miss-judging the on-coming traffic and not reading the situation, I have witnessed a fatality through a motorway worker that left his work van 1ft away from the Hard Shoulder white line while he had plenty of room on his left, not exiting your car / HGV From the Near side causing either cars / HGVs to swerve to avoid you, as you may know, the "BUNCH UP" By HGVs do not help, but their speed is set to 56mph, Foreign HGVs that can not see you, as you may be below his mirror vision ( Blind Spot) ( Been there) maybe we can never stop the accidents but if you are aware of the cause's it might help.

What do you do when you join a motorway Baldric?
Excellent post from TWR ^

I never got to drive in Egypt, but someone else took my truck on a trip to Teheran once.
It came back with the driver's door full of bullet holes. I'm glad I missed that one :o)
Why do HGVs seem to home in on broken down vehicles with the hazard lights on?
/What do you do when you join a motorway Baldric? /

I'm guessing Baldric doesn't join using the exit slip LOL
Again it comes down to education but a lot of people don't understand what the slip road is for, they amble on to the motorway expecting those already there to move out of their way.

Explain Baza.

In my view Baldric, if a driver is joining a Motorway, He / She joins from the right, to the driver already on the motorway, the left not from the front.
What do you do when you join a motorway Baldric?

Usually traffic going in the same direction. What do you get TWR?
To answer Baza ........ I guess the main reason is that we're so mean in this country. A truck is 2.5 metres wide, and lanes are only 3.65m (sometimes less.)

It doesn't leave much slack either side for crosswinds etc............ and, of course, for inattentive truck drivers.
In my view Baldric, if a driver is joining a Motorway, He / She joins from the right,

ok I have just woken from a nap, give me a little time to come round.

not in the uk they don't
