When I took my car for its MoT, I got an "advisory" about the brake and clutch pedal rubbers which were worn, and starting to reveal the metal beneath.

So how can cars with "go-faster" alloy pedals sold in all the accessory shops pass the test?

As\far as i am aware pedals do not form part of the MOT hence it was "advisory" I may be wrong on this but I have just checked my last MOT check sheet and there is no mention of such things.

You were given an advisory because your pedal covers have lost their grip.  When your rubber pedal covers wear down they expose the smooth metal beneath.  After market boy-racer alloy pedals have grips on them so they're fine.

New ones are cheap and look a lot better, just change them and be safer.
