Ford Fiesta mk4 Lexus Lights Problem
Here's an unusual problem, I'm stumped because I can't see a fault with the car or the new lights.
My rear lights work fine with the factory ones but I replace them with some new lexus light fascias and they no longer behave properly. The problem is a transition from two single filament bulbs to a single twin filament.
The RHS works fine but on the left when you press the brake the left indicator comes on constantly. Also the reverse light and indicator are inverted for some reason on the LHS as well. This happens when I swap the LHS and RHS sets as well.
I bought the lexus lights a a replacement for a broken factory set so I can't drive legally until I get this fixed...
Anyone heard/seen/can solve this problem????
Thanks

When you swap the L & R sets are you saying that the fault remains on the left side of the car? If so, it would seem to be isolated to the left side only. Are all the wiring connections identical for both new and old units? Have you had to adapt the wiring to cope with the change from 2 X single, to 1 X twin?
Try tracing the coloured wires in the R set and see if they're duplicated on the L set. From the sound of it the wires seem to be mixed up.
Good luck
Thanks for your response Tim.
The problem is always the LHS. The lights came with adapters to go from 2xsingle to 1xtwin and they work for the RHS. From what I can tell the wiring is electrically the same with the adapter and the old ford system. I'm gonna try and run 2xsingle off the new wiring adapter to see if that works or not. I'll post when I've found out some more.
Well I've found a solution. Still don't know what the original problem was but I took the adapter apart and got a bit of wire wool on all the pins to clean them. I then put them individually into the car. This solved the problem. I put them back into the holder/sleeve thing and I've now got two working lights!
Thanks anyway for your replies.
