Hi all,

I have had a 1995 Corsa Arizona for about 4 months and in the past few days it has started making squeaking noises in the engine but only seems to happen when the air conditioning is on, or when the car has been left with the lights on for 5 minutes, could anybody suggest what might be the problem?

Thanks

sound like a loose drive belt / alternator belt, it is more likely to squeel under load i.e when you use your ac,

its only a simple 5 min job to tighten (just so you dont get ripped off at a garage)

make sure it is not your drive belt, could seize the engine

i think pollyfrance is mistaking it for a cam belt - if that snaps it may cause considerable damge, but anyway a cambelt is toothed and will not squeel so dont worry.

dont spray wd40 on any belts, it will stop them squeeling yes but only because it will probably stop them gripping - wd40 is a luricant !

You could buy a belt dressing spray which helps grip by putting a tackt coating on the belt and pulleys or just get a 13mm spanner, loosen the adjuter, tighten belt and tighten adjuster - problem solved !
