Hi.
I put my Fusion into a garage for a service and timing belt change.
Now the mechanic says he cannot start it.
He says he has checked the fuel, electrics and timing, all seems correct but it still refuses to start.
He has been working on it for 4 days.
Can anyone suggest anything.

Timing out.
The timing could be 180 deg out ie, firing at the end of the exhause stroke instead of the compression stroke.

He says he has checked and re-checked and re-checked the timing.
He has said he has done many changes on Fusion and fiestas and has never come across this before.
The car drove into the garage Mole for what you have stated, the problem I'm sure is the timing, if there was an air lock in the system it would try to fire, does the person know what he's doing? 4days!!!!!

If you drove it there then it's something he's done, I would be looking for a Loan Car at his expense for starters
//He has been working on it for 4 days.// Sounds like you need a better garage/mechanic, it can't be a Ford garage surely?

Yes I drove it there and yes it is a good garage (I have used it for years with no problems).
He has all the gear for checking but still no joy.

///He has all the gear for checking///

And has been doing so for 4 days, he'd never see me again once he's fixed it!
Is there Derv in the System?
Are the Fuel filter seal correctly seated?
Although you are looking for a possible cause Mole, it's down to them to put it right as it went in running, as said, if you are in need of a car, tell them that you intend to hire one, DO TELL THEM before you hire otherwise they could refuse to pay the bill.

TWR, Yes there is fuel, I know and he knows it's down to him to fix it, I'm just clutching at straws by asking on here.
Cheers for the help, I'll wait til the morning and see what he has to say about another car until he has fixed it.
On a point Mole, I'd be very wary of what they might try here!! They MIGHT JUST SAY, it's this that has gone, or that has just packed up, come back with, the car came in with NO PROBLEMS & came in for a Service that you can not archive, a service meaning the car will have been serviced to run, not to stand for 4 days, you are also paying Road Funds / Insurance funds without the use of your car & you want compensation for the loss, stand your ground, if they try & fob you off advise them you will be taking this further.
Is there a breather hole in the fuel filler cap? If it's blocked, the fuel will 'hang' in the tank.

The car is running.
I will not know the correct name of the part til I go to pick it up, it's something like "pulse sprocket"??.
Cost???? pass,,,,,, will let you know.
Thanks for the replies

The mechanic charged the original estimated charge, he did not charge for the extra time or the extra parts (although he seemed balder than before he started the work) lol.
Did the mechanic say what the name of the part was that was stopping it from starting ?.
Don't know if he's referring to a Cam Sprocket here Tony!!
Most likely, TWR. The only thing I can think of is it must have lost a tooth.
Similar thing happened to me some years ago .. the local franchised dealer had fitted the belt one tooth out. Verified by an independent specialist.
