Diesel On The Decline?
Looking at getting a new (to us anyway!) car next year.
We've always had diesels for the last 10 years or so, but are diesels the economical sensible and environmentally sound car they were always considered to be?
Would you go diesel or petrol?

It's not just VW diesels either now, looks like they lied about petrol engine emissions now.

Two out of three of our cars are diesels. The 320d Beemer we'll probably run into the ground (if we live long enough) it's great fun and very economic for long journeys. The Yeti 177bhp 4x4 will be the first to go but not for a year or so. My Octavia Vrs Estate (petrol) will be around for while yet until something with more powerful turns up.
I always think about the U.S. when it comes to diesel/gas.
Because gas is cheaper most of their leisure marine craft use petrol engines.
Petrol is dangerous because of its low flashpoint and sits like a gas vapour in the bilges of a boat ready to easily explode when the engine is fired up at the start of a new season of sailing. Their cars are all petrol guzzlers.
Why are the MAC heavy haulage long distance trucks and the long distance, high mileage Greyhound buses fed on Diesel?
Cheaper ,more efficient, longer lasting low revving engines
Lower Passenger fares and freight charges for the consumer in the stores.
